Dockers Fish House

We heard that Dockers Fish House (called by many locals as Dockers Waterfront Cafe) in Muskegon was expensive and that a tie was required. We heard wrong, and in fact found the price to be very reasonable and the dress casual – after all, it’s on the water and frequented by boaters.

We started with drinks and appetizers that consisted of an awesome Sangria and Hot Rocks. The Hot Rocks are fried shrimp in buffalo sauce, one of my favorite appetizers that I have found many restaurants just cannot seem to get right. Dockers in Muskegon not only got it right, they turned out to be the best we have have had yet!

The major interior renovation of Dockers Fish House and the new urban contemporary look can be attributed to Jennifer Harris, an interior designer who specializes in residential kitchens. The atmosphere was very busy and loud, but we were still able to talk without much problem (it was probably busier than usual due to Mothers day).

For dinner, we enjoyed a stuffed New York Strip and Lobster with Crab Cakes. Both were prepared perfectly and service was very fast considering the number of customers.

Our waitress set the tone and made us feel at home, big smile, excellent service and attention to detail. We enjoyed watching the big cigar boats roll in and found the views to be very relaxing.

Overall, the all new Dockers Waterfront Cafe in Muskegon had great food, reasonable pricing and wonderful service.

We’ll be visiting again!

Had lunch at Dockers Fish House today on the patio. It’s an awesome day, temperature just right, slight wind, sunny yet we found a table in the shade and had a wonderful private afternoon.

We ordered a grilled cheese (and paid the extra for bacon and tomato) and the open face prime rib. The service was excellent and the manager was again walking around to make sure everything was going well.

I won’t order the grilled cheese again – I like my sandwich with a good amount of cheese and this did not hit the mark.

Our waitress stated that Dockers Waterfront Café wants to be known for their prime rib and they are not kidding. If Dockers keeps this up, it won’t take long for the word to spread; fantastic open face prime rib! We shared the prime rib and quickly forget about the grilled cheese. I have to mention that the lemonade tested home made and was a nice surprise!

Awesome atmosphere, great service, fantastic prime rib [and not so good grilled cheese] – total came to $23.00. We’ll be doing lunch there again and will write back then!

Your are right about the Hot Rocks!

We were heading out on our fishing trip when we started talking about Dockers restaurant and decided to call them. We found out that they deliver to the boat (there is a dock you can pull up to) and bring you everything you need!

Our waiter, Steve, was on top of everything and the buffalo shrimp was just right. Dockers in Muskegon is now our favorite waterfront restaurant!

We were out on the water last night and called Dockers to make sure they still served dinner, they said yes, until 11:00pm tonight.

It was 10:00pm and we decided to dock the boat and eat. We were not the only ones and in fact, saw a couple come into the restaurant with their two dogs! They ended up sitting outside next to the patio entrance were the dogs barked at everyone entering and leaving.

We decided to order the BBQ Ribs which the menu claimed to be their special. We also ordered coconut shrimp as an appetizer.

The coconut shrimp was almost burnt, was hard to bite into and should not have been served.

The BBQ Ribs were some of the WORST ribs we have ever had! The were tough and the sauce was just as bad!

The waitress we had did fine (Check # 41760) , but the food was the worst!

If you are thinking about going to Dockers for a dinner late at night, skip it! I left feeling as though the ribs had sat out all day, had then been put into the freezer, taken out and covered with old sauce. The shrimp was either fried in burnt grease or was cooked earlier and microwaved.

Perhaps you’ll have better luck, but I strongly suggest going somewhere else for late night dinners!
